A lady that works at IBM, along with her husband (who also works at IBM) are former competitive salsa dancers, who now offer introductory free classes for IBM employees, particularly co-ops and new hires.
So, having nothing better to do with my evening, I decided to check it out. I figured, at worst, it would prolly have twice as many girls as guys (since guys generally hate dancing), and it might be interesting.
Turns out, a lot of guys must have had that same thought. Last year, there was a total of around 16 people, and there were like 9 girls and 7 guys. This year, at least for the first class, there was 25 guys and 20 girls.
I'm amazed at how many people total showed up, but even more amazed at how many guys. Just remember this, girls. It's only a myth that guys don't like to shake their ass and wiggle their hips. This class is proof of that. ;-)
Either way, I had a lot of fun. The only downside was that the room was overly crowded, since they were expecting a similar turnout to last year, and it got really hot in there after half an hour or so.
After that, we went to Uno's, a pizza and stuff restaurant. I like that place. The food is good, and the manager is awesome. It turns out he's a huge Nebraska Cornhusker (that's college football for you non-fans) fan, and he noticed my Nebraska hat. So, after chatting with him for 10 minutes, he stood up to go, and asked me and my roommates what we wanted to drink. . . he then proceeded to bring us free drinks. ;-)
It was a good time, as it was one of the other Co-Ops birthday. Someone even brought cake, and we had almost 20 people there.
In other news, I got three new DVDs that I ordered in today. I got Tin Cup, with Kevin Costner and Rene Russo, Dangerous Beauty with Catherine McCormick (the first chick in Braveheart, and Casablanca, which is just a cool movie.
Speaking of that, I think I'm off to watch one of 'em right now. ;-)
