Another laptop challenger...

Here's another good laptop deal that I'm considering. It's a Toshiba Tecra, Celeron 650, 13.3" TFT display, 6GB disk, 64 MB RAM. It comes in at $1399 after a rebate, placing it $200 more than the Vaio I looked at yesterday, but with a faster CPU. It also has a built in network card, which would save me a little money there. Other than those two things, they are *very* comparable.

Update: I just found this notebook, too. It's an HP OmniBook 4150 PIII-500, with 128MB of RAM, a 6GB hard drive, and a 14.1" display, for $1349. The one thing this one lacks, which both of the other two laptops include, is DVD. As I've got close to two dozen DVD movies, this would be a rather nifty feature. ;-)

For comparison, here's a link to information on the other laptop I'm considering, the Sony Vaio with an AMD K6-2+ 550 in it, 12GB hard drive, 64MB of RAM, and a 13.3" TFT display.
