Danger Mouse

ISP Woes.

Without any advance notice, my ISP decided to change the static IP that my primary server uses.

Okay, that's a royal pain in the butt, but we can fix it. So, I update all my DNS settings, get my secondary DNS providers updated with the new IP, and we're all good, right?

Wrong.

My ISP didn't duplicate the firewall settings that my old IP had, so nearly all incoming traffic is now being blocked at the router. Nice. Hopefully we can get this fixed soon, since I can't receive e-mail (among other things) until it's resolved.

New kernel.

nexus:~$ uptime
01:51:55 up 35 days, 4:39, 5 users, load average: 1.12, 1.02, 1.05

Well, it's not a spectacular uptime, by any means (my own personal best is over 200 days), but it'll be gone in a few minutes anyway. I'm just about to upgrade to a 2.4.19 kernel, along with the preemptible kernel patch.

Worse ISP Woes.

Things are getting worse.

My IP address is almost completely unreachable from the Internet, and the tech support person isn't being very helpful towards even attempting to fix the problem, despite the fact that I explained clearly, and politely, what it is.

This could be a long day.
