Lord Yupa

Amusing response to a flame.

I just saw one of the more amusing responses to a flame a bit ago. Someone was commenting on how, while most BSD/Linux users are tolerant of their alter-OS counterparts, there are some who will never pass up a chance to start a fight, and fight dirty. Then somone jumped all over him about how he was completely wrong, etc, etc. A rather unfriendly, and unecessary, flame. Here was the original poster's response to the mailing list:
Wow. Thanks Nathan. I don't think I could have asked for a better example of the kind of attitude people have so much trouble with. You got it all in there. Vitriolic & condescending tone. Biased perception of what I said. Partisan reinterpretation of facts and statements. And, to top it off, an ad homen personal insult. Priceless.

No, no...no need to reply and explain again the many ways that you're right and I'm wrong. Really. I quite understand you. And this thread really should be allowed to die.

I am amused. ;-)

Lord Yupa

Saturday.

I meant to note what I did Saturday before now, but I just haven't had time to get to it. So, here's a brief run down.

I woke up at 7:00am, and I was out the door by 8:00am to catch a train to New York City. Once I got there, I hiked over from Grand Central Station to Penn Station (a couple miles).

At Penn Station, I met with a friend of mine, and we wandered around in the general direction of Times Square. We eventually found a place to eat lunch, some funky little burger and steak place. It wasn't too bad, though, although the service was slow.

After eating, we started off for the Nederlander theater, where "Rent" was playing. Unfortunately, we discovered as we arrived where we thought it was that her map was wrong. So I made a quick call to 411, got the addressed, managed to guess where it was, and we walked in just 7 minutes before the show started.

Rent was awesome. A really, really, good show. Even better than I'd expected. Especially (for anyone who's seen it with the current cast) the Mooing girl. She kicked much booty on her solo part. Lots of fun. ;-)

After the show, we hung out for a little while, then both went to our respective train stations and headed home.

Once I got home, I had just enough time to run to my car, drive hurriedly, and head towards the Poughkeepsie Galleria mall, where I was meetihg with some other friends to see "The Fast and the Furious"[1]. I managed to make it there with 12 minutes to spare, so I ran over to the Mall's food court and grabbed some food. There's a place there, called the Cajun Cafe. The food they serve is horrible cajun food, but it's great chinese food. So, I grabbed some of that, wolfed it down in 4 minutes, and ran back to the theater just in time to see one of the people I was meeting walk around a corner down the hall. ;-)

After the movie ended, we went to a little bar & restaurant place down the street to hang out for a while. It was one of the most bizarre, and fun, experiences I've had in a while there. Some of the people that worked there were getting trashed, and providing entertainment, and some of the people in our group were. . . adding to it. ;-)

I finally managed to arrive home somewhere around 2:30am. It was a good day. ;-)
