Amusing sentence seen on IRC.

This is an amusing thing that someone just pasted on IRC. What's really interesting about it, is that it appears to be somewhat true. I had very little trouble reading through it at fairly normal speed.

Odd. ;-)

"Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. That's quite cool. It takes a bit longer to read, but it is quite legible.
either that, or all of us geeky people are proficient in reading typoese.

You know, I kinda wondered that a little, too.

We get very used to and adept at seeing lots of typos while on IRC/IM, etc. I can't help but wonder how much of this is "real", and how much is conditioning and familiarity.

I think I'm gonna print it out and test it on some of my non-geeky friends. ;-)
That is the weirdest thing I've seen all morning. :)

[okay, I've only been up for 30 minutes, but it's almost midday.]

Yeah, that's what I said when someone first pasted it. I read through it, and two things came to mind. First, that it was really freakin' weird, and it's hard to imagine that someone actually sits around thinking about this kind of thing. And second, that it was really cool. ;-)
Yeah, I didn't have to slow down for any of it. That was cool.
