I've decided I'm going to buy a (small) sailboat.

Prolly won't happen 'till next spring, though. More on this new decision later. ;-)

I've decided to invest in flying lessons soon. :>

Whoa. . . very cool. ;-)

I've actually always wanted to try flying, too. . . but I figured I'd start with sailing. ;-)
and where pray-tell do you sail in Ne? And can we come with you?

Sailing in Nebraska.

There's a number of places, actually. In fact, it's much easier to find a place to take out a small sail boat than it is to take out a motor/speed boat.

My parents have a Deckboat (It's like a cross between a speed boat and a pontoon boat), which I borrow on occasion. It can be used to cruise the Missouri river, or you can cruise around Branched Oaks (just outside of Lincoln) or Lake Manowa (which is kinda nasty, and more crowded).

With a small sailboat, I wouldn't even have to leave Omaha. I could go to Carter Lake, Cunningham Lake, Zorinsky Lake, Wehrpann Lake (Chalco Hills Rec area), even Standing Bear, though ti's a little smaller. If I want more room, I can always head out to Branched Oaks, too.
My god, I haven't sailed since summer camp.
...and I'm buggered if I can remember how. I don't even think I can do the knots anymore...

But sailing rocks.

Yeah, it's been a while for me. . .

When I was younger (way younger), my family had a small sail boat. I still remember having a lot of fun in it, though I barely remember anything about actually sailing.

While I was on vacation this summer, I went out on a (large) sail boat, and was reminded of how much fun it was. That clinched it for me, and now I've started saving up.

I definitely agree. . . sailing rocks. ;-)
