The sound, the production, the lights, the song selections, the musicians. . . amazing. This easily ranks among the best two or three performances I've ever seen, and I've managed to catch quite a few.
This is a Christmas song tour, but they also played a handful of songs from their third, and latest, release, Beethoven's Last Night. They basically played through their entire first album, Christmas Eve and Other Stories, which tells an interesting story, then a selection of songs from their two later albums.
I took three friends, one of whom has never listened to TSO, and the other two who have heard it from me a few times. At the end of the show, all three of them professed to be fans now, one was asking to borrow one of their CD's from me, and another was planning on going out and buying all three tomorrow!
After the show, the entire group of performers came out and talked to fans, signing autographs and such. Very friendly.
Considering this morning's crappy start, tonight really rocked. ;-)
If you like rock, orchestra, Christmas music, conceptual music, or just about anything else, and TSO will be near you, I strongly urge you to catch them. I promise, it will be worth it.
